I'm A Poet And I Know It

In writing today we explored the language of poetry. We read a poem about scootering around the town and used it as inspiration for our poems. It was a challenge to try and write in this way. Here are some poems we composed:

Riding on my skateboard
Balancing, balancing, balancing
All around the city
-Oscar Carey

Swishing on my skates
Around, around, around
Spinning, spinning, spinning,
All around the town
-Luana Kirchoff Pereira

Once went I was riding
I was doing 360s
With my sister
I listened to my Mum
And I loved it
-Noah Reid

I am on my bike
I am turning on my bike
To jump
I fell in the pond
I was covered in frogs!
-Angus Roberts

Riding my waterski
All around the lake
Doing some tricks
And back flips
On my waterskis
I was going and going
Until I was stopping
I got into the boat
-Cruz Schwalger

Riding on my skates
Going swishing round the gates
Seeing all my mates
Holding on the gates
Seeing the whole estates
Faceplanting!
Waaaaaa!
I WANT MY MUMMY!
-Tessa Hurndell

Dye as a medium

Sam L
"We went outside to look at the mountains to do our art work. We did mountains. It was fun. I love dye."

Audrey
"Art. I made art with dye. The dye goes on the paper. My colours were brown and orange. I needed to brush the brush in the side of the box. It was mountains."

Elsie
"On Wednesday we made mountain artwork. It is fun. I know that it stains. I love dye."

Olivia
"Today I made a mountain picture with dye. It was tricky with the trees. One of them was orange and the other one was brown."

Luana
"We made some blue dye. It was so much fun. You could use it on paper and card."

Cruz
"Today we went for a walk up to the courts. We looked at mountains. It was fun. We used dye."

Tessa
"I made a mountain artwork. It was made out of dye. We also made trees of dye. We did two. I made two types of mountains. A thick brush and a skinny brush. I did the opposite of fat and skinny."

Collaborating through art!

We are learning about changes in art. We are discussing words like MEDIUM and STYLE and DIGITAL ART. Today we practiced drawing stars so we can ad them to what we did yesterday. Check out our collaboration.

Visit From the WSCA

We had a visit today from the WSCA. We shared some songs, read books to them and told them all about our habitat. It was great to share our learning with our visitors.

Let's Get Curious About Change

We will be learning all about charge next term. What does change mean? We will be thinking and learning about change in me, change in my family, change in my community and change in my world. Here is some of our great thinking so far.

Collaborating Crafts

We are learning to share ideas and equipment to make some wonderful artwork. Super collaborating today Kimi Akau!

Curious About Lines

Did you know... lines can be big, small, short, long, horizontal, vertical, diagonal, wavy, zig zag, thick, think, dashed, dotted, swirly and curly?

We do! We are learning about lines to help us with our drawing and writing. Lines are everywhere! What lines can you see in your environment. Can you draw them?

Here is some information about lines from Tessa.

Exploring repeating patterns in Kimi Akau

Tessa is working with a four-element pattern. All the children have been challenging themselves this week with increasingly complicated patterns.
