We were so lucky to have a special visitor in Kimi Akau today. Finn Wallis' dad James used to be in the New Zealand army. He has special hats that he wore when he was all dressed up in his uniform. We even saw medals! He earned the medals for doing special things for other people. Some soldiers get them for being brave.
We learned It's not all about war. You can be a builder, a cook or a fixer or even a chaplain in the army.
James has driven tanks and has been in planes and helicopters! He brought in some photos of these to show us.
The hottest place he's been was in Australia and East Timor. It's a country near the middle of the world that is warmer.
"Onward" is the motto of the infantry.
Thank you for visiting us and giving us a relevant learning experience James.
